Tlakatiliztli is a grassroots documentary that chronicles the experience of 20 wombyn in the 'hoods of Los Angeles in a time where natural/home birth is a luxury. The spirituality around birth that exists in cultures all around the world has been lost in urban areas today. As indigenous wombyn in urban hoods we will reclaim the vision around birth that the media and cinema have made a mockery of. This documentary is an effort to heal our native communities. In the spirit of resistance, we will counteract the messages that our youth is fed by industrial society about birth, sex, womanhood and sistahood today. We're ready to take back our birth rites to experience and forever cherish because it is what truly empowers us to the core. AHO! -  Tlakatiliztli  

Madres de Anahuak is a collective of conscious indigenous mothers looking to build a better future for youth, based on cultural values and the building of sisterhood through motherhood for a strong(er) community.
